Riverbank

Project Details

This project was designed for a couple seeking a home to retire in — a place where they could comfortably spend the rest of their lives and enjoy the next chapter together. Overlooking a small creek, the design embraces its natural surroundings while creating a seamless balance between outdoor living and modern comforts. Spacious living and kitchen areas were thoughtfully designed to provide the perfect setting for hosting family gatherings and holiday celebrations.

My role in this project included assisting with the completion of the construction documents, along with creating renderings and visualizations of the design. I also developed a cinematic walkthrough video to bring the project to life and provide the clients with a clear understanding of the finished home before construction began. Additionally, I accompanied the clients to interior showrooms and used the renderings as a visual guide to help inform and refine material and finish selections.

Selections Process

This is where the design process truly begins to feel real. Being able to see and physically experience materials and textures helps bring a design vision to life in a way that drawings and renderings alone cannot. Viewing colors, finishes, and patterns under different lighting conditions can play a major role in the success of a selection.

Working closely with these clients, we laid out all material selections together to ensure a cohesive design throughout the home. Careful attention was given to how the cabinetry paired with the flooring, how the backsplash complemented the countertops, how flooring transitions flowed between spaces, and how the various tile selections and patterns in the bathrooms worked together to create a balanced and unified aesthetic.
